Home-Start Southwark's AGM 2022

On the 24th November, we had a great pleasure to host Home-Start Southwark’s 27th Annual General Meeting. We were joined by HSS families, volunteers, Trustees, supporters, friends and partners.

It was a heartening occasion during which we explored our work and projects completed throughout the past year, as well as discussed our plans and future developments. We listened to families’ statements describing their experience of working with Home-Start volunteers, and we heard from our volunteers themselves, speaking about what volunteering with Home-Start means to them. It was joyful, moving, heart-warming – all at once!

Mavalyn, our Lewisham Project Lead, shared updates on expanding Home-Start Southwark’s service into the Borough of Lewisham. Alex and Ola talked about the Transformational Leadership Programme which we joined in order to strengthen our EDI strategy and weaken the link between race, gender or physical/mental abilities and access to opportunities and prospects in Southwark and Lewisham.

The AGM was also an occasion to express our appreciation for Pippa, who decided to step down from the role of Trustee after 13 years of active service. During this time, Pippa acted as a family support volunteer, Chair, Vice Chair and fundraiser, having family, volunteer and staff wellbeing at the core of her work at all times. It’s been a great privilege to work alongside Pippa, to be inspired by her love, efforts and dedication shown to Home-Start Southwark’s mission. Thank you, Pippa!

But it wasn’t the end of the changes across the Board. Our Chair Sarah and Treasurer Alice, both stepped down from their roles. We are extremely grateful for all the years they supported Home-Start Southwark with their experience, dedication and tireless efforts. Thank you, Sarah! Thank you, Alice!

We welcomed Lola, who during the AGM became Home-Start Southwark’s newest Trustee and the Treasurer. And with great joy we watched Alex and Tatyana taking up on the challenge of becoming HSS Chair and Vice Chair (respectively). We are excited to see what the future holds for the newly shaped Board and the whole organisation!
