Good News at last!
After a nail-biting 11 months, since we heard from LB Southwark that our Contract to supply “Targeted Family Support” to families in Southwark, which provided a large part of our income, would cease in September 2016, we are delighted, and so relieved, to announce that we have now secured alternative funding that will go a very long way to sustaining our organisation for the next 3 years.
We have redesigned our service to attract this new funding whilst remaining true to our mission to provide practical and emotional support to struggling parents so that they may create happier lives for their children. Having very regrettably had to make 2 members of staff redundant during this period of great uncertainty we are now able to recruit new staff and so support many more local families and children.
Huge thanks go to The Henry Smith Charity, The Peter Stebbings Memorial Fund, United St Saviour’s Charity and The Big Lottery Fund and of course to all our staff and volunteers who have worked enormously hard to secure new funds whilst continuing to care for our families during this most stressful and worrying time.
We do not quite have all the money that we need from major donors to fund all our plans so we will continue our fundraising with, we trust, your support, and remain particularly grateful to those smaller donors whose regular help and donations has meant so much to Home-Start Southwark both financially and in terms of moral support.
With very best wishes.

Seema is Moving On…
After over three years Seema Sodhi will soon be moving on from her role as Scheme Manager of Home-Start Southwark. Seema joined the organisation at a critical time of great change, with declining funding from Southwark Council and an increasing need for transparency and a new structure that could see the organisation into the next decade.
Seema has been pivotal in developing a more flexible and dynamic organisation better suited to respond to our communities’ needs. Seema has also been the driving force behind our recent successes in securing funding from many high-profile trusts and foundations, including a major grant from The Big Lottery Fund.
Seema will be following her lifelong dream of working with horses delivering equine-assisted therapy to help children and young people in north London. The team and Trustees at Home-Start Southwark would like to wish her all the best of luck with her future endeavours.
